Start at the West side of the refuge and bushwhack to nine separate trails that make up about 15 miles.  Starting at West Gate heading cross country southeast; between Elk Mountain and Twin Rocks Mountain; heading south to the southern border; heading east on dirt road; head north on Indiahoma Road to north portion of the Dog Hollow Trail System; head south past Lost Lake through the Narrows to the southern border; follow the Burma road east and north and around Quanah Mountain; north through grasslands; swing around Quannah Parker Lake clockwise past visitor center; generally heading northeast to the northern border passed Jed Johnson Lake; heading east to the summit of Mt. Scott.

Start at Murphy Trailhead follow tall markers in the grass that designate the Sante Fe Trail to the Conestoga Trailhead (19 miles); go south until the trees or depending on the terrain Road 600; head upriver to the west until the Wilburton Pond area; pick up the Turkey Trail if it can be seen; otherwise continue heading downstream probably on the south side until the Cimarron Recreation Area where the Turkey Trail turns into a two track; follow the track until about 1.75 before the Cimarron River Picnic Area.
